Governorship Aspirant Fight Over PDP Ticket In Ogun

Kayode Amusan a governorship aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party in Ogun State and two others have begun fight over House of Representatives ticket for Abeokuta North/Odeda/Obafemi-Owode Federal constituency.

Apart from Amusan, who had contested for governorship ticket at the party primary, other candidate who were claiming ownership of the ticket were former Chairman, Obafemi-Owode local government, Akeem Adeshina and a lawyer, Ibrahim Olaleye.

All of them have been pasting posters and billboards across the three local governments, announcing their ambition in the coming election.

Vanguard however, gathered that,  the  leadership of the party had submitted the name of the  governorship aspirant,  Kayode Amusan who did not  contest for House of Representatives ticket.

Moreover,the candidate confirmed on INEC's website is Kayode Amusan

It was gathered that,  Olaleye had been  declared at the party  primary held for some aspirants, but, was later  reportedly cancelled by the national leadership of  party due to its alleged  failure to comply with the party guidelines.

Addressing newsmen over the development,  Amusan explained that,  the party resolved to compensate him  with  the ticket despite that he did not contest for that seat to persuade him over his loss in the governorship race in the party.

Amusan disclosed that,  though,  the matter was before the Federal High Court,  the INEC has recognised him as the legal candidate of the party for the position.

According  to him, one  thing I want you to realise is that most of the congresses and primaries done in Ogun state are not approved by the PDP at the national level. And in a situation like that, the party has the prerogative power to nominate and send the list to INEC.

“And I think in the process of doing that arrangement, the leadership of the party agreed on a consensus  candidate and the candidate is no other person  than honourable Kayode Abduljalil Amusan to represent Abeokuta North, Odeda and Obafemi-Owode Federal constituency and this has been there from inception and it has not been altered  and that is the final list that has been published by INEC”, he said.
